About
Jordana Greenblatt (sometimes performing as Marion Aether) is a Toronto-based circus artist specializing in solo and duo aerial (including static trapeze, aerial rope, aerial frame, and aerial chains) and contortion, with additional practice in partner acrobatics. Bendy and gender-bending, Jordana explores a range of gender presentations in their art, while mobilizing their strength and flexibility to undermine gendered technical expectations.
Over the last few years, their performance contexts have ranged from art events to family-friendly spectacles. Among the former, they have perfomed at Hercinia Arts Collective’s art parties and as part of Femmes du Feu’s collaborative circus residency and culminating performance, Circus Sessions. Among the latter, they performed in the City of Oshawa Canada Day celebrations as part of Vital! Cabaret. And–somewhere in between–they performed as part of Clarice Lima’s public performance art project WOODS at The Bentway. Their all queer and trans devised performance circus show “Lifting Belly” received grant funding from Canada Council for the Arts and the Toronto Arts Council. Their work with Cirkus Syd’s international Circus Thinkers Platform included authoring a chapter for and co-editing each of the platform’s publications, Circus Thinks: Reflections and Circus Thinks: Conversations. Jordana has spoken internationally on circus and gender and/or sexuality, including a guest lecture at the École Nationale de Cirque.
